During the first half of 2014 my partner Neil and I undertook a major rebuild and refurbishment of our home at North Curl Curl. This was a major event in our lives as we are an actively retired couple and intend to remain in our cottage here for the rest of our days. We therefore set out to ensure that our cottage was redeveloped in such a way as to suit our lifestyle and to enable us to live here easily and happily in the years ahead.

We first met Matt of MJK the year before when he was undertaking a major building project for our next-door neighbors. We came to know him quite well and had virtually a daily opportunity to observe his work at close quarters. We were impressed with his level of craftsmanship and attention to detail as he managed and supervised this project throughout 2014.

Just as importantly we came to observe his client relationship and his friendly and cooperative approach. We also noted his punctuality and determination to keep the job moving at a good pace, even when the weather was not favorable. Anyone who goes through a project like this knows how difficult it can be to co-ordinate sub contract trades people and kitchen designers/installers in the project management process. Matt excelled at this. We could see his approach first hand. He also cared for and looked after the interests of neighbors who were affected by the usual noise and dust etc when these building projects happen.

When it came time to our project earlier this year, Matt displayed all of the attributes mentioned above. He has an outstanding ability to sort through complex issues, which can often emerge when demolition/construction proceeds, and come up with sound and practical solutions. It became clear to us that the sub contractors who work with Matt also have solid respect for him and thus he has built up a band of good people around him. When someone is expected on site for example to complete some essential plumbing or electrical work, they turned up on time.

For us, undertaking this redevelopment of our home was not an easy thing to do. It is a disruptive and uneasy time. We are absolutely delighted however, with the completed project and so are all of our friends and relatives who have come to look at our wonderful new cottage with its open plan living, wonderful kitchen and indoor/outdoor living style.

Matt has asked me to write this testimonial and I have no hesitation at all in recommending him as a builder and project manager. In fact since our project we have recommended him to a number of friends for whom he has undertaken work. I am more than happy for anyone to contact me by phone to discuss the above comments if needed.
