Adams Street, North Curl Curl – Linda and Ian

This was an original cottage in the Northern Beaches. The brief was to create an open plan ground floor with separate areas, an open plan kitchen, dining and lounge area for entertaining, an office and in-law accommodation with its own entrance and bathroom. There was a need for extra storage with children growing older.

The 2nd storey was to house 3 bedrooms one with walk in robe and en-suite, a living area and a bathroom.

Testimonial from Linda & Ian

Thank-you for the great job on building our second storey and entirely Remodeling our downstairs!………

We really appreciated your skills and your opinion on so many facets of the project. This enabled us to make decisions along the way with cost knowledge and economize where feasible as well. Your craftsmanship and speed of working was amazing. We love the stairs, the fireplace mantle and our office desktop (and more), which you built with ease… And helped us save at the same time.

I also really valued your personal communication – no problem was too big and no detail was too small to discuss  – you had ideas and found solutions to everything and kept us informed – simply great to work with!

Darley Road, Manly – Project One – Fiona

To create a house that is ideal for entertaining for the client and her two daughters while also having areas of retreat and peace.

The kitchen layout was to be designed to maximise space while maintaining a practical, presentable area. The client loves an open house full of fresh air and wanted this to be a feature of the design.

The ground floor was to be opened up to the back creating 2 bedrooms downstairs plus a possible guest bedroom. The addition of a second storey combining a parent’s retreat with ensuite, office, robe and storage. The views & breezes from the proposed second storey were to be maximised. The design intention was for the addition to have minimal impact on the character of the street and retain the original internal details of the house that gave it it’s unique charm.

Darley Road, Manly – Project Two – Brad

The main objective was to modernise the rear of the ground floor and create a strong connection between the kitchen/living area to the existing courtyard. A new second storey was to be added including a master bedroom, robe, bathroom, lounge & a deck to the rear. The design intention was to have a minimal impact on the street character and create a unified style between the adjacent property that MJK Building was renovating while maintaining the original internal character details.

Architectural designed addition to original terraced house. Additional second storey and back extension to the lower living areas – with the main brief being “Light, light light” This was certainly achieved through glass highlights, windows and wall panels. We loved the finished result, in fact we wanted to move in…
